Charity run 2025

10,000 steps for 10,000 children with life-limiting illnesses

Under the motto “WALKING FOR SHORT LIVES“, Rainer Züst, ambassador of the Swiss Children’s Hospice Foundation, is launching a special charity run: from September 1 to December 1, 2025, people will be running and collecting donations for the Flamingo. Everyone is invited to take 10,000 steps during this period. Other forms of exercise are also possible. The 10,000 steps – around eight kilometers – are symbolic of the 10,000 children/young people in Switzerland who have a life-limiting illness.

Doubling of donations

Every individual donation of up to CHF 3,000 is doubled by the German Bethe Foundation. The “Bethe Foundation”, initiated by Roswitha and Erich Bethe, is a key founder of the “Swiss Children’s Hospice Foundation” and therefore also an important supporter of the children’s hospice movement in Switzerland.

SPECIAL DAY on October 25, 2025

The highlight of the “Walking for Short Lives” charity run was the Special Day in Fällanden. Participants came to Fällanden on foot or by public transport, an aperitif awaited them on the town square and afterwards they were able to take a first look at the Flamingo.

Donations were accepted on site or symbolically in the form of a donation check – these will be doubled until December 1, 2025!

Participate and donate

The organizers support interested parties in implementing their own campaigns, for example with flyers, vests or mascots.

The aim is to motivate as many people as possible to walk and donate with “1 centime per step”.
