The festive kick-off event for the opening of the Flamingo Children’s Hospice took place in a small group on Friday evening, May 29, 2026. Around 50 invited guests took part in an evening with many highlights. Government Councillor Natalie Rickli delivered the greetings from the Canton of Zurich.
The celebrations for the public continued on Saturday, May 30: 2500 visitors celebrated the opening of the Flamingo Children’s Hospice!
The official start was marked by the symbolic cutting of the blue flamingo ribbon. It opened a day full of encounters and shared experiences. In fantastic weather and a cheerful atmosphere, presenter Cloé Maria Salzgeber led the guests through a varied program. The “Flamingo Mile” was the unifying element of the festival: along the route, partner organizations invited visitors to discover a variety of hands-on activities, while culinary stalls provided enjoyment and encounters.
A heartfelt thank you to all supporters and sponsors, visitors, staff, partner organizations, artists, and musicians who helped make this successful festival a reality.
